The Opportunity:
We are seeking an inspirational Lead Computer Science Teacher to join our Science Faculty and lead the Computer Science department. This is a fixed-term role to cover maternity leave, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact on student achievement and curriculum development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Computer Science department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across KS3 and KS4.
- Deliver engaging lessons in Computer Science, covering topics such as programming, algorithms, and cyber security.
- Develop and implement a curriculum that balances theoretical knowledge with practical skills in programming.
- Support student achievement through differentiated instruction and effective assessment strategies.
- Collaborate with the Science Faculty and Head of Faculty to share best practices and resources.
- Participate in the wider life of the school, including extra-curricular activities and professional development opportunities.
- Stay up to date with developments in Computer Science education and integrate innovative teaching methods into the classroom.
- Mentor and support other teachers within the department.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in teaching Computer Science at KS3 and KS4.
- Proficient in programming to at least GCSE standard, with experience using Python.
- Strong classroom management and teaching skills, with a track record of raising student achievement.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a faculty and take on leadership responsibilities.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team within a school.
- Experience with the AQA GCSE Computer Science curriculum.
- Familiarity with digital literacy, e-safety, and data structures.
- Experience in a federation of schools or similar multi-academy trust environment.
