The Opportunity:
As a Director of Mathematics, you will lead a dynamic department and shape a high-quality curriculum that inspires a love of Maths in all students. You will play a key role in driving academic excellence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and motivate a committed Maths team, providing direction and modelling excellent classroom practice.
- Deliver engaging lessons based on Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction and the school’s Excellent Teaching Model.
- Use data and assessment to ensure strong progress for all students and implement effective interventions.
- Design and refine a well-structured, fully resourced curriculum across KS3 and KS4.
- Mentor early career teachers and support colleagues through coaching and professional development.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to drive improvement and uphold the school’s ethos.
- Promote positive attitudes to learning and ensure all students achieve expected progress.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a school or college setting, preferably in a senior leadership role.
- Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics and experience in curriculum development.
- Experience in managing and developing teaching teams.
- Demonstrable track record in improving student outcomes and raising standards.
- Familiarity with Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction and effective teaching strategies.
Preferred
- Experience in leading departmental improvement and driving change.
- Experience with assessment and data analysis for learning outcomes.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in supporting early career teachers and providing professional development.
