The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and innovative Head of Science Department to lead and inspire a team of teachers. This role is central to delivering a high-quality, engaging curriculum that supports student achievement and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Science department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement an innovative and engaging curriculum for key stages 3 and 4.
- Support and mentor Science staff to enhance teaching practices and student outcomes.
- Monitor and assess student progress to inform planning and improve learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues to deliver a well-rounded and inclusive curriculum.
- Engage with parents and the wider community to promote Science education.
- Organise and lead enrichment activities that enhance student learning.
- Utilise ICT effectively to support student engagement and learning outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in teaching Science at key stages 3 and 4.
- Strong subject knowledge and a commitment to high standards of teaching and learning.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
- Ability to manage and lead a department effectively.
- Excellent classroom management and assessment skills.
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team.
- Familiarity with assessment for learning strategies.
- Experience in using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
- Involvement in extra-curricular Science activities or events.
