Director of Performing Arts sought to lead and inspire a dynamic arts program at a leading independent school.

The Opportunity:
As the Director of Performing Arts, you will lead a bold, future-facing vision that unites Music, Drama, Musical Theatre and Dance. This is a transformative role that will shape the creative landscape of a thriving school community, from early years to Sixth Form.
Key Responsibilities:
- Articulate and deliver a strategic vision that unites all performing arts disciplines into a cohesive, collaborative faculty.
- Lead and inspire senior colleagues, fostering a culture of innovation, inclusivity and excellence.
- Oversee a dynamic co-curricular programme, including major productions, concerts, festivals and professional collaborations.
- Curate high-profile events and visiting artist programmes that enhance the cultural life of the school.
- Identify and nurture talent across all age groups, providing clear progression pathways and bespoke development opportunities.
- Support students in pursuing higher education in the arts through mentorship and specialist preparation.
- Strengthen partnerships with professional arts organisations, international schools and the local community.
- Work closely with admissions and marketing to position the arts as a key part of the school’s identity and reputation.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a Performing Arts context within a school setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in Music, Drama, Musical Theatre or Dance.
- Strong strategic thinking and communication skills.
- Experience in managing large-scale productions or co-curricular programmes.
- Ability to inspire and lead a team, while fostering a culture of creativity and collaboration.
Preferred
- Experience in capital development projects or new facility planning.
- Background in a boarding or day school environment.
- Experience with professional arts organisations or international schools.
- Strong understanding of the arts sector and its role in education and community engagement.
