The Opportunity:
As a PE Teacher, you will play a key role in fostering a lifelong love of sport in students from Early Years through to Key Stage 3. You will lead coaching sessions in a variety of sports, manage fixtures, and contribute to the wider school community. This is a chance to make a lasting impact on young people’s physical and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coach & Officiate: Deliver engaging and inclusive Games lessons, ensuring high standards of sportsmanship and skill development across a range of sports.
- Manage Fixtures: Select and manage teams, publish schedules, and prepare for match days, including Saturday morning fixtures on an alternate-weekend basis.
- Support Pupil Progress: Provide differentiated coaching for all ability levels and maintain accurate records and reports on student performance.
- Contribute to School Life: Participate in boarding duties, staff trips, and potential holiday tours, supporting the broader school community.
- Ensure Safety & Wellbeing: Act as a qualified first aider and uphold excellent behaviour standards in all sporting environments, including changing areas.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified to teach physical education and games.
- Experience in coaching boys’ and girls’ sports, including football, rugby, hockey, cricket, and netball.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills to manage fixtures and team logistics.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and contribute to the school’s extracurricular and boarding life.
- First aid qualification.
Preferred
- Experience teaching classroom subjects or holding swimming qualifications.
- Familiarity with modern coaching pedagogy and a commitment to professional development.
- Experience working in a co-educational environment.
