The Opportunity:

As the Director of Performing Arts, you will lead a high-performing department and oversee the opening of a new Performing Arts Studio. This role offers the chance to shape the future of performing arts education and inspire students in drama, dance, and music.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Performing Arts department, ensuring high standards in teaching and learning.
  • Oversee the opening and management of the new Performing Arts Studio in Autumn 2026.
  • Deliver a curriculum that promotes and protects opportunities for the arts from Year 7 through to GCSE.
  • Support students in achieving outstanding GCSE results, with a focus on drama, dance, and music.
  • Enhance extracurricular opportunities, including ballet, LAMDA, drama societies, orchestras, and choirs.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, staff, and external partners in the arts community.
  • Promote the school’s reputation in performing arts through competitions, festivals, and performances.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align departmental goals with the school’s vision and strategic priorities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a performing arts department.
  • Strong subject expertise in drama, dance, or music.
  • Experience in curriculum design and delivery at GCSE level.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving high student outcomes and results.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team of experienced practitioners.

Preferred

  • Experience with OCR drama, AQA dance, or Edexcel Music qualifications.
  • Background in leading successful arts competitions and performances.
  • Experience in managing capital projects or new facility openings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and external stakeholders.
