The Opportunity:

As an Exams Officer, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of all external examinations and assessments. This role ensures full compliance with JCQ regulations and awarding body requirements, while maintaining the integrity and fairness of the examination process for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full examination lifecycle, including planning, entries, access arrangements, and post-results services.
  • Ensure compliance with JCQ regulations and awarding body requirements at all stages.
  • Act as the school’s lead contact for awarding bodies and coordinate with senior leaders, teaching staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain robust systems and processes to safeguard the integrity of the examination process.
  • Meet critical deadlines and deliver high-quality administrative support to the school community.
  • Support the SENCo in implementing access arrangements and special needs provisions.
  • Provide clear and timely communication with students, parents, and staff regarding examination processes and results.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of examination procedures and data management systems.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in managing external examinations and assessments.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process.
  • Experience in working with JCQ regulations and awarding bodies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting, particularly in a senior administrative role.
  • Familiarity with data management systems and software used in educational institutions.
  • Experience with special educational needs and access arrangements.
  • Knowledge of current educational policies and procedures relevant to examinations and assessments.
