The Opportunity:

As the Director of School Operations, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering operational excellence across a large and dynamic educational institution. This is a leadership position that demands strategic thinking, operational expertise, and the ability to lead change in a complex and evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement robust operational systems and processes across the school.
  • Provide professional leadership and guidance to Heads of Operations, ensuring consistency and capability across the Group.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operational performance of the school, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership teams, central professional services, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and responsiveness.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on efficiency, compliance, and the delivery of excellence.
  • Support the school’s growth strategy through effective operational planning and execution.
  • Ensure the school meets all regulatory and governance requirements within the educational sector.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the institution and the wider Group.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven senior leadership experience in a complex educational or multi-site organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organisational change and drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong understanding of business processes, compliance, and governance in education.
  • Experience in operational planning and implementation within a large institution.
  • Ability to influence and work effectively with senior leadership teams and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to delivering an outstanding operational environment that supports educational excellence.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading operational teams within a multi-academy trust or similar structure.
  • Background in managing large-scale development projects or capital programmes.
  • Experience with school estate management or infrastructure development.
  • Knowledge of educational policy and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong track record in fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
