The Opportunity:

As a Sixth Form Academic Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting students through their Sixth Form journey. You will provide tailored academic guidance, help students develop effective study habits, and contribute to a positive and motivating learning environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and guide students through their Sixth Form experience, providing tailored academic assistance.
  • Develop and implement strategies to help students improve study habits and academic performance.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Sixth Form and Tutors to ensure a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for students and parents.
  • Provide confidential administrative and strategic support for the day-to-day operations of the Sixth Form.
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to students and parents.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of academic and pastoral support programs.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with school policies and procedures.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a school or educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in academic mentoring or pastoral support within a Sixth Form environment.
  • Knowledge of student welfare and support strategies.
  • Experience with administrative and strategic planning in an educational setting.
  • Familiarity with the use of educational software and management systems.
