The Opportunity:

As Director of Science Learning, you will lead and inspire a team to deliver high-quality science education that drives student achievement and engagement. This role is ideal for an experienced educator looking to take on a leadership challenge and make a meaningful impact on student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a science curriculum that meets the needs of all learners and aligns with the school’s academic and leadership goals.
  • Lead and support the science faculty to ensure consistent delivery of outstanding teaching and learning.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, identifying areas for improvement and implementing targeted strategies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate science learning with leadership and character development programmes.
  • Promote innovation and creativity in science teaching to engage and inspire students.
  • Provide professional development and coaching for science staff to enhance teaching standards and achievement.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to ensure alignment with school-wide objectives and policies.
  • Represent the science department in meetings, inspections, and external events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree-level qualification and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven ability to teach science to GCSE standard.
  • Experience in leading and managing a science department or faculty.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes and raising attainment.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and motivational skills.
  • Ability to coach and support colleagues to achieve individual and collective targets.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Background in leadership training or professional development.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TEFL) or other specialist teaching areas.
  • Familiarity with Star Academies’ values and mission.
