Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the SEND department to ensure high-quality provision for students with special educational needs.
• Develop and implement inclusive strategies that support student achievement and well-being.
• Collaborate with teaching and support staff to provide tailored interventions and resources.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision and make recommendations for improvement.
• Provide professional development and guidance to staff working with students with special educational needs.
• Work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to support student outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for SEND provision.
• Contribute to the development of school-wide policies and practices that promote inclusion.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Proven experience in leading a SEND department within a secondary school setting.
• Strong knowledge of special educational needs, inclusion, and relevant legislation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to develop and implement inclusive strategies and support systems.
• Experience in working with students, parents, and external agencies.

Preferred

• Experience in curriculum development and assessment for students with special educational needs.
• Familiarity with research-informed teaching approaches and pastoral care.
• Experience in professional development and staff training.
• Experience in a school with a diverse student population.
