The Opportunity:
As the Director of SEND, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering inclusive education for students with special educational needs. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the SEND department to ensure high-quality provision for students with special educational needs.
- Develop and implement inclusive strategies that support student achievement and well-being.
- Collaborate with teaching and support staff to provide tailored interventions and resources.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision and make recommendations for improvement.
- Provide professional development and guidance to staff working with students with special educational needs.
- Work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to support student outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for SEND provision.
- Contribute to the development of school-wide policies and practices that promote inclusion.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading a SEND department within a secondary school setting.
- Strong knowledge of special educational needs, inclusion, and relevant legislation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to develop and implement inclusive strategies and support systems.
- Experience in working with students, parents, and external agencies.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment for students with special educational needs.
- Familiarity with research-informed teaching approaches and pastoral care.
- Experience in professional development and staff training.
- Experience in a school with a diverse student population.
