The Opportunity:

As a Head of Year, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the student experience through strong pastoral leadership. This role is ideal for someone passionate about education and committed to the values of Ambition, Opportunity and Community. You will be responsible for ensuring students receive the support they need to thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a year group, ensuring the well-being and academic progress of all students.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support student behavior, attendance, and engagement.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, support staff, and external agencies to provide holistic student care.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, including academic achievement and pastoral needs.
  • Provide guidance and support to students, parents, and carers in a professional and compassionate manner.
  • Promote a positive school culture by fostering strong relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Organize and lead pastoral events and activities that enhance student experience and community spirit.
  • Work closely with the senior leadership team to ensure alignment with school vision and values.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a similar leadership role within a school or educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of pastoral care and student support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Commitment to the values of Ambition, Opportunity and Community.
  • Full, fluent spoken English.

Preferred

  • Experience in a comprehensive school or sixth form setting.
  • Experience with safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Leadership experience in a large school environment.
  • Experience in curriculum development or educational leadership.
