The Opportunity:

As the Director of Sixth Form, you will lead a dynamic and high-achieving sixth form, playing a pivotal role in shaping student development, academic success, and personal wellbeing. This is a key leadership position with the opportunity to influence the future of the school and its students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the academic and pastoral development of students in Years 12 and 13.
  • Work closely with the Director of Higher Education and the Futures team to support students in their university and career pathways.
  • Oversee the operations and culture of the Sixth Form Centre, ensuring it remains a distinct yet integral part of the school.
  • Provide leadership and support to a team of Heads of Year and tutors.
  • Foster a culture of academic excellence, independence, and personal growth.
  • Ensure the sixth form continues to thrive and evolve as a key part of the school’s identity.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching in a chosen subject to A level standard.
  • Manage a 15-period teaching remission effectively.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in an academically selective setting.
  • Strong pastoral and academic leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach to A level standard in a chosen subject.
  • Deep understanding of UK and international higher education pathways.
  • Experience in managing and developing a sixth form team.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a school or college.
  • Familiarity with the unique challenges and opportunities of leading a sixth form in a city-based school.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in fostering student leadership and independent learning.
