The Opportunity:

As a Residential Assistant House Parent/ House Parent, you will play a crucial role in supporting the pastoral care and academic success of students within the Residential Boarding House. You will be responsible for fostering a positive, caring, and disciplined environment that promotes student well-being and educational growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take direct responsibility for the pastoral care of students and report any issues to the Head of Boarding.
  • Hold regular meetings with house staff and students to encourage engagement and input into the management of the House.
  • Attend weekly House Parent Meetings and contribute to the development of the House.
  • Conduct regular audits of House facilities and report concerns to the Maintenance Team.
  • Maintain an overview of health and safety standards within the House.
  • Support the welfare and academic achievements of all students in the House.
  • Act as loco parentis and serve as a role model for boarders.
  • Ensure that students’ medical needs are met in collaboration with the College Nurse.
  • Oversee the order and cleanliness of the House and assist students in managing their personal space.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a pastoral or residential care role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
  • Ability to work flexibly and manage a demanding workload.
  • Understanding of educational policies and procedures.

Preferred

  • Experience in boarding or residential environments.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Experience in academic mentoring or student support.
  • Familiarity with the National Minimum Standards for Boarding Schools.
