DT and Art Technician - Maternity Cover until 22nd July 2027

The Opportunity:

A DT and Art Technician is needed to provide essential support to classroom teachers and help raise student achievement. This role is ideal for someone who is motivated, independent, and able to work with minimal supervision while contributing to a supportive and dynamic learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of quality teaching and learning in Design and Technology and Art.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of support programmes to help all students access the curriculum.
  • Provide cover for teachers when required, ensuring continuity of learning.
  • Use technology effectively, including computers, email, and photocopiers.
  • Uphold policies and procedures related to child protection, health, safety, security, and confidentiality.
  • Communicate diplomatically and tactfully with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Work independently and with minimal supervision to complete assigned tasks.
  • Maintain a positive and encouraging environment that supports student engagement and achievement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Good standard of Education (Level 3) with strong numeracy and literacy skills (GCSE English and Maths or equivalent).
  • Ability to use technology effectively (computer, email, photocopier, etc.).
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security, and confidentiality.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact positively with students and adults.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Previous experience in a technician or support role within a school.
  • Familiarity with Design and Technology and Art curricula.
