The Opportunity:
As an EAL Teacher, you will play a key role in helping students develop the language skills they need to succeed academically and socially. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher or an ECT looking to grow in a supportive and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality EAL lessons tailored to students at all levels of English proficiency.
- Support students through small group and individual interventions to enhance language development.
- Work closely with subject teachers to ensure language skills are embedded across the curriculum.
- Prepare students for academic success, including university entry where appropriate.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages communication, critical thinking, and cultural understanding.
- Contribute to the school’s co-curricular programme and promote student engagement in reading, discussion, and extracurricular activities.
- Maintain accurate records and provide regular progress reports to parents and colleagues.
- Participate in staff development and continue professional learning to enhance teaching practice.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A Cambridge or Trinity TEFL certificate.
- Experience in teaching English as an Additional Language.
- Ability to teach across a range of ages and abilities.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Preferred
- Experience of teaching or examining IELTS.
- A passion for supporting students in their academic and personal development.
- Experience in a boarding school or similar educational setting.
- Knowledge of inclusive teaching practices and strategies for diverse learners.
