The Opportunity:

As a Senior Chef, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals that meet the diverse needs of pupils and staff. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a team of chefs and kitchen staff in the preparation of meals across multiple kitchens.
  • Develop and implement menus that are both appealing and nutritionally balanced, taking into account dietary requirements.
  • Ensure that all food is prepared in line with health and safety standards, as well as the school’s policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef and other department members to maintain the highest standards of service and quality.
  • Monitor and manage inventory, ordering, and stock control to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Support the delivery of special events and functions, including weddings, corporate events, and summer schools.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior chefs and support staff within the department.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic working environment in all kitchen areas.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior chef role within a large catering environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of food preparation, safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and term-time only.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of special dietary requirements and the ability to cater to a wide range of needs.
  • Experience with event catering and large-scale food preparation.
  • Familiarity with menu planning and cost management.
