Actual salary of £30,990 to £33,601 pa (£39,847 to £43,204 FTE) inclusive of holiday pay based on 15.55%. Starting salary depending on skills qualifications, and experience.

The Opportunity:

As Deputy Houseparent, you will play a vital role in the pastoral care and day-to-day management of a boarding house. You will work closely with the Houseparent and support the wellbeing, development, and academic success of students. This is a dynamic, team-oriented role that requires strong leadership, organisational skills, and a genuine passion for working with young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Houseparent in the absence and ensure the smooth running of the house.
  • Supervise and mentor students, promoting their personal and academic growth.
  • Coordinate and manage house staff, delegating tasks effectively and maintaining clear communication.
  • Assist with the administrative duties of the house, including scheduling and record-keeping.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive environment that supports the emotional and social development of students.
  • Attend to the day-to-day needs of students, ensuring their safety, comfort, and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to support the overall mission and values of the school.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven ability to work effectively with young people and in a team environment.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and administrative skills.
  • Commitment to the safeguarding and wellbeing of students.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and overnight duties as required.
  • A willingness to undergo full training provided by the school.

Preferred

  • Experience in a similar role, such as residential or pastoral support.
  • An academic background or relevant qualifications.
  • Experience in mentoring or supervising students.
  • Knowledge of boarding school operations and student welfare practices.
