Education Welfare Officer needed to support attendance strategies and student engagement.

The Opportunity:
As an Education Welfare Officer, you will play a key role in supporting attendance strategies and improving student engagement across the Trust. You will work closely with families and school leaders to ensure students remain in education and achieve their full potential, using a supportive and safeguarding-first approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and deliver the Trust’s attendance strategies to improve student engagement and attendance levels.
- Conduct targeted family casework to identify and remove barriers to education.
- Lead on interventions for persistent and severely absent pupils, ensuring a Safeguarding First approach.
- Work collaboratively with school leaders and families to support students’ educational outcomes.
- Monitor and report on attendance data, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Provide guidance and support to staff on attendance-related issues and strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the development of school-wide attendance improvement plans.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in education welfare or a related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in working with families and children, including statutory intervention.
- Understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
- Ability to manage complex cases and deliver targeted support to improve attendance.
Preferred
- Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
- Knowledge of attendance improvement strategies and best practices.
- Experience with data analysis and reporting in an educational context.
- Experience in leading or supporting attendance improvement initiatives.
