The Opportunity:

As an Education Welfare Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring students receive the support they need to attend regularly and benefit fully from their education. This temporary role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes and contribute to a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students and families to ensure regular attendance and engagement with education.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and external agencies to develop and deliver effective welfare services.
  • Monitor and report on student attendance and progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Assist in the development of strategies to improve attendance and engagement across the academy.
  • Provide guidance and support to students and families in addressing barriers to learning.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of training and professional development for staff.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to student attendance and welfare.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and other professionals to support student well-being and success.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in education welfare or a similar role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Experience in supporting students with attendance and engagement issues.
  • Understanding of education welfare policies and procedures.
  • Commitment to student well-being and academic success.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of child development and welfare practices.
  • Experience with pastoral care or student support services.
  • Familiarity with attendance management systems and software.
