The Opportunity:

As a PE Intern, you will play a key role in supporting the PE and Games Department, contributing to the delivery of high-quality sports and physical education experiences for students. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop your coaching and leadership skills, and be part of a vibrant and inclusive school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the setup and delivery of PE and Games lessons for both Junior and Senior School students
  • Support qualified staff during lessons across the school
  • Coach within the school’s Games programme
  • Take responsibility for coaching and managing a major sports team each term
  • Assist with age-group teams after school and on weekends as required
  • Umpire or referee school matches (where appropriately qualified)
  • Support the school’s outreach programme
  • Attend departmental meetings, staff meetings, and working groups
  • Participate in assemblies, events, trips, and wider school activities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong competence in at least two of the following sports: Netball, Hockey, Rugby, Athletics, Cricket, Rounders, Swimming, Cross Country, Tennis, Strength & Conditioning
  • Ability to relate well to young people while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Confidence working independently or as part of a team
  • Willingness to lead activities when required
  • Commitment to the wider life of the school

Preferred

  • Particular strengths in Swimming, Netball, Hockey, or Rugby
  • Experience reflecting on the Sports curriculum with regard to Diversity and Inclusion
  • Willingness to act as a positive role model to pupils
  • Interest in contributing actively to school life beyond sport
