The Opportunity:

The Assistant Director of Outdoor Activities will play a key role in developing and expanding a strong outdoor education programme that inspires students to reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an innovative outdoor education programme that aligns with the school's mission and values.
  • Collaborate with staff to integrate outdoor activities into the curriculum and enhance student learning experiences.
  • Manage and coordinate outdoor trips, events, and programmes such as the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme and Combined Cadet Force.
  • Support the delivery of leadership and team-building activities that promote personal development and resilience.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during all outdoor activities and events.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the outdoor programme.
  • Promote the school's outdoor initiatives to students, parents, and the wider community.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff and students involved in outdoor activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in outdoor education or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to student welfare and safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in programme development and delivery.

Preferred

  • Experience with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme or similar initiatives.
  • Knowledge of outdoor adventure activities and risk management.
  • Experience in mentoring or coaching students.
  • Familiarity with leadership development programmes.
  • Background in education or youth work.
