The Opportunity:
As an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with additional educational needs, helping them develop emotional resilience, confidence, and independence. You will deliver emotional literacy programmes and provide individual and group support to help students succeed in both academic and creative subjects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialised emotional literacy programmes to support students’ emotional and social development.
- Provide one-to-one and small group interventions to help students manage emotions and build resilience.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to support student progress.
- Support students in accessing the curriculum across creative and vocational arts subjects.
- Assist students with organisational and learning strategies to enhance their academic performance.
- Support Post 16 students with Education Health Care Plans (EHCP) in completing their UAL qualifications.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with relevant stakeholders.
- Create a positive and inclusive environment that fosters student confidence and engagement.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working as an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant, Learning Facilitator, Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, or Mentor.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work flexibly in a dynamic environment.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to supporting students with additional educational needs.
Preferred
- Experience working with students aged 14–19.
- Experience in delivering emotional literacy and social skills programmes.
- Knowledge of the performing arts, media, or design industries.
- Experience working with students with Education Health Care Plans (EHCP).
