The Opportunity:
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities. You will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to ensure a positive learning experience and help students reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with special educational needs and disabilities in a classroom environment
- Assist with physical support, including helping students move and position themselves safely
- Provide individual attention, reassurance, and support with learning tasks tailored to students’ needs
- Work with students on independence and self-care procedures, ensuring dignity and respect
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to develop and implement individual learning plans
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all students
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies as needed
- Support students with intimate and personal care in a compassionate and professional manner
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience of working with students with special educational needs and disabilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and support the school’s mission and values
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Preferred
- Experience in a classroom or educational support setting
- Knowledge of manual handling and physical support techniques
- Experience with self-regulation and emotional wellbeing strategies
- Previous experience in a special educational needs setting
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary according to NJC Pay Scale, Grade 4-5
- Part-time contract with 30.75 hours per week
- Term time plus one week (39 weeks) and permanent position available
