The Opportunity:

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities. You will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to ensure a positive learning experience and help students reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with special educational needs and disabilities in a classroom environment
  • Assist with physical support, including helping students move and position themselves safely
  • Provide individual attention, reassurance, and support with learning tasks tailored to students’ needs
  • Work with students on independence and self-care procedures, ensuring dignity and respect
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to develop and implement individual learning plans
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all students
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies as needed
  • Support students with intimate and personal care in a compassionate and professional manner

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience of working with students with special educational needs and disabilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and support the school’s mission and values
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Preferred

  • Experience in a classroom or educational support setting
  • Knowledge of manual handling and physical support techniques
  • Experience with self-regulation and emotional wellbeing strategies
  • Previous experience in a special educational needs setting

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary according to NJC Pay Scale, Grade 4-5
  • Part-time contract with 30.75 hours per week
  • Term time plus one week (39 weeks) and permanent position available
