The Opportunity:
As an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant, you will support children’s social, emotional, and mental health through in-class provision and small group interventions. This role is essential in promoting emotional literacy, self-esteem, and positive mental health across the school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support children’s social, emotional, and mental health through in-class and small group interventions.
- Work under the direction of the Mental Health Lead to develop emotional literacy and resilience in students.
- Deliver targeted support to improve self-esteem and social communication skills.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to integrate emotional literacy into classroom learning.
- Monitor and report on student progress and wellbeing.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
- Contribute to the creation and delivery of SEMH-focused activities and programmes.
- Support the school’s mission to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant qualifications in emotional literacy, education, or mental health support.
- Experience working with children in a school or educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build trust and rapport with children and adults.
- Commitment to promoting positive mental health and wellbeing.
Preferred
- Experience in delivering emotional literacy programmes or SEMH interventions.
- Knowledge of child development and behaviour management.
- Experience working within a school’s learning support team.
- Familiarity with mental health frameworks and support strategies.
