The Opportunity:
As the English Faculty Deputy Head, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of English education at a school on a journey to excellence. This is an opportunity for an ambitious and inspiring leader to make a significant impact on student achievement and curriculum development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the English Faculty in delivering high-quality teaching and learning across all Key Stages.
- Work closely with the Head of Faculty to develop and implement strategies that raise student attainment and aspiration.
- Analyse student performance data and use insights to drive improvement in teaching and learning.
- Manage and deploy resources effectively to support the delivery of a broad and balanced English curriculum.
- Provide leadership and guidance to teachers, promoting best practice and continuous professional development.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high expectations within the Faculty.
- Champion student well-being and ensure that all young people are supported to reach their full potential.
- Ensure that safeguarding and welfare policies are upheld at all times.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong track record of success in teaching English at GCSE level.
- Demonstrable experience in leading and managing a faculty or department.
- Proven ability to raise student attainment and improve outcomes.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and the well-being of students.
- Qualified teacher with relevant experience in a school setting.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department towards becoming a Head of Faculty.
- Background in curriculum development and assessment.
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or similar.
- Passion for student engagement and extracurricular activities.
- Experience in school leadership or senior management roles.
