Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the English Faculty in delivering high-quality teaching and learning across all Key Stages.
  • Work closely with the Head of Faculty to develop and implement strategies that raise student attainment and aspiration.
  • Analyse student performance data and use insights to drive improvement in teaching and learning.
  • Manage and deploy resources effectively to support the delivery of a broad and balanced English curriculum.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to teachers, promoting best practice and continuous professional development.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high expectations within the Faculty.
  • Champion student well-being and ensure that all young people are supported to reach their full potential.
  • Ensure that safeguarding and welfare policies are upheld at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong track record of success in teaching English at GCSE level.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading and managing a faculty or department.
  • Proven ability to raise student attainment and improve outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and the well-being of students.
  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in a school setting.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department towards becoming a Head of Faculty.
  • Background in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or similar.
  • Passion for student engagement and extracurricular activities.
  • Experience in school leadership or senior management roles.
