The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and inspiring English Subject Leader to lead and develop the English curriculum across Years 7 to 13. This role offers the opportunity to shape learning, support student progress, and work within a collaborative and high-achieving school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the English curriculum to ensure high standards of teaching and learning across all key stages.
  • Support and mentor English teachers to improve practice and raise student achievement.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment in English.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments and the senior leadership team to drive school improvement.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, curiosity, and high expectations across the English department.
  • Ensure that the curriculum is challenging, engaging, and meets the needs of all students.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support student progress and personal development.
  • Contribute to the school’s wider communication and leadership initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong background in English education.
  • Proven experience in leading a subject team and delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English curriculum and assessment practices.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Commitment to student progress and personal development.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school with a focus on character development and holistic education.
  • Familiarity with research-based approaches to teaching and learning.
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational partnership.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
