Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the English department to maintain and enhance its high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Deliver a dynamic and engaging curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with students, staff, and external partners such as the National Theatre and RADA.
  • Support the professional development of colleagues and contribute to school-wide improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure excellent extra-curricular provision in English, including links with cultural and educational institutions.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring outstanding outcomes for all learners.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to drive school improvement and strategic goals.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that supports student well-being and achievement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a successful and highly effective English teacher.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within a school setting.
  • Strong track record in delivering outstanding student outcomes.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and leadership growth.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in senior leadership or aspirations to take on such a role.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and innovation in English teaching.
  • Experience with extra-curricular activities and community partnerships.
  • Familiarity with the work of the English and Media Centre or similar institutions.
