The Opportunity:

As an English Subject Leader Teacher, you will play a key role in driving improvements in curriculum, teaching, and student attainment. This position offers the chance to lead and innovate in a high-performing department, while supporting student achievement and development across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the English curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Support and mentor colleagues to raise student achievement and learning outcomes.
  • Deliver high-quality, innovative teaching that promotes higher level thinking and student engagement.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support and interventions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and effective learning experience.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Ensure the implementation of school-wide policies and initiatives.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of extracurricular and enrichment activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in English.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Proven ability to raise student achievement and attainment.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English curriculum and pedagogy.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Experience with professional development and coaching.
  • Familiarity with NPQ qualifications or similar leadership training.
  • Experience with inclusive education and supporting disadvantaged students.
