The Opportunity:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and qualified English Teacher (1 Year Post) to join a dynamic and successful department. This role will contribute to a culture of reading, critical thinking, and literary engagement across all key stages, from Years 6 to 9 through to GCSE and A level. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future of English education at the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach across a range of key stages, including Years 6 to 9, GCSE, and A level classes.
  • Deliver a broad and challenging curriculum that develops pupils’ reading, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Promote a culture of reading and literary enthusiasm among students.
  • Support students in preparing for CIE IGCSEs and A level examinations.
  • Participate actively in co-curricular activities and school life.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance departmental teaching and learning practices.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative and engaging lesson plans.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in English education.
  • Experience teaching across a range of key stages.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of reading and critical thinking.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching CIE IGCSEs or A level English.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment.
  • Experience in co-curricular or extracurricular activities.
  • Experience with safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary on the CLS Teaching Pay Scale (£40,480 to £69,450).
