The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a passionate and qualified English Teacher (Maternity Cover) to join its dedicated team. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on students’ learning and development, while contributing to a vibrant and innovative academic community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and innovative English lessons to students across Key Stages 3 to A Level.
  • Develop and implement a wide range of texts and topics that support student learning and achievement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance cross-curricular initiatives and support the school’s Platform+ programme.
  • Contribute to the pastoral and co-curricular life of the school, including outreach and literacy initiatives.
  • Support student development through discussion-based, seminar-style teaching and encourage wider reading and critical thinking.
  • Participate in the school’s Professional Studies programme and contribute to departmental planning and strategy.
  • Engage with students through a rich co-curricular programme, including creative writing, theatre trips, and literary events.
  • Respond sensitively to the academic and pastoral needs of both Lower and Upper School students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree in English or a related subject.
  • Ability to teach both Language and Literature at Key Stages 3 to A Level.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and student development.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching English at Key Stages 3 to A Level.
  • Experience with digital and traditional teaching resources.
  • Experience in cross-curricular collaboration and co-curricular engagement.
  • Experience in supporting student pastoral needs and wider reading initiatives.
