The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced English Teacher to join our team on a part-time basis. This role involves teaching English Literature and Language across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a focus on delivering high-quality, structured lessons that meet the needs of all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons in English Literature and Language for Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Plan and implement lessons that respond to the strengths and needs of all students.
  • Support students in achieving high standards in the AQA exam specification.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the development of the English department.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and growth.
  • Participate in school events and contribute to the wider life of the school.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students through adherence to safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete administrative tasks efficiently.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A postgraduate teaching qualification.
  • A high level of academic achievement, including a good degree.
  • Secure knowledge of the English curriculum and assessment methods.
  • Proven experience in teaching English Literature and Language to Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Experience in pastoral care and student wellbeing.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching in an independent or state secondary school.
  • Experience in co-educational environments.
  • Experience with Ofsted or ISI inspections.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching practices and technologies.
