The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a committed Teacher of English to join on a fixed-term, maternity cover basis. The role involves delivering high-quality lessons that inspire and challenge students, while contributing to the pastoral and co-curricular life of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across key stages, supporting individual development and academic growth.
  • Innovate in teaching methods, incorporating digital resources and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with other departments and contribute to cross-curricular initiatives.
  • Expand the range of texts and topics taught, responding to the needs of all students.
  • Support the pastoral and co-curricular life of the school, including participation in outreach and literacy programmes.
  • Encourage a love of literature and critical thinking through seminar-style and discussion-based teaching.
  • Contribute to the development of pupil-led societies and co-curricular activities.
  • Provide guidance and support to students both academically and personally.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree in English.
  • Ability to teach both Language and Literature from KS3 to A Level.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, engaging lessons.

Preferred

  • Teaching experience, though not essential.
  • Experience with innovative teaching methods and digital resources.
  • Experience in cross-curricular collaboration or outreach work.
