The Opportunity:
As an English Teacher and Subject Leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the school’s English curriculum, including GCSE and A Level courses. You will lead a team of three teachers and contribute to the school’s tradition of academic excellence and innovative teaching practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the development and delivery of the English curriculum, including GCSE English Language, English Literature, and A Level English Literature.
- Support and mentor a team of three teachers, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring high academic standards and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate cross-curricular themes and enhance student learning experiences.
- Stay up to date with current educational trends and incorporate best practices into teaching and leadership.
- Represent the school at relevant conferences, events, and professional development forums.
- Contribute to the school’s vision and values, promoting a culture of inclusivity, curiosity, and excellence.
- Ensure all teaching and leadership activities align with the school’s mission and safeguarding policies.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in English education at both GCSE and A Level.
- Proven leadership experience in a school setting, ideally as a subject leader.
- Strong curriculum design and delivery skills, with a track record of improving student outcomes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team of teachers.
- Familiarity with the latest pedagogical approaches and technologies in education.
- A passion for fostering a multicultural and inclusive learning environment.
- Experience in extracurricular activities, such as drama, literature societies, or debate.
