The Opportunity:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join our team on a full-time basis for maternity cover starting in September 2026. This role offers the opportunity to inspire students across KS3 to KS5 and contribute to a vibrant and supportive department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach a full timetable of KS3-KS5 English classes with a focus on academic excellence and student engagement.
• Inspire and motivate students to achieve their highest potential through creative and dynamic teaching methods.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of the department’s co-curricular programme.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide regular feedback.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistent and high-quality teaching across the department.
• Participate in department meetings, planning, and assessment activities.
• Support the school’s mission to develop balanced, compassionate, and rounded young people.
• Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching practice and subject knowledge.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Qualified teacher with relevant experience in English education.
• Strong subject knowledge in English literature and language.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons to students of all abilities.
• Experience in teaching across Key Stages 3 to 5.
• Commitment to student welfare and safeguarding.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

• Experience in leading or contributing to co-curricular activities.
• Experience with teaching English as a Second Language.
• Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes and achievement.
• Experience in a similar independent or selective school setting.
