Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging Sociology lessons that promote critical thinking and student engagement.
  • Support students in developing a deep understanding of key sociological concepts, theories, and debates.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the Sociology curriculum, including enrichment activities and trips.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, resources, and teaching strategies.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support learning and achievement.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment for all students.
  • Engage in extracurricular activities and events that enhance the learning experience.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in teaching Sociology at A/AS Level.
  • Strong knowledge of the Sociology curriculum and current sociological debates.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to student welfare and inclusive education.
  • Experience in working with a diverse student population.

Preferred

  • Experience with ILT (Interactive Learning Technology) and digital teaching tools.
  • Background in curriculum development or leadership within a department.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to enrichment activities and student trips.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding and pastoral care procedures.
