The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and inspiring English Teacher - Head of Year to join a dynamic and growing school. This role offers the opportunity to lead a year group, shape student development, and contribute to a forward-thinking department. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality education and supporting student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a year group, ensuring effective pastoral care and academic progress.
  • Deliver high-quality English teaching across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, including GCSE and A Level.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the academy trust to share best practices and improve teaching and learning.
  • Support the development of students’ personal, social, and emotional skills.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of the school’s curriculum and extracurricular activities.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to implement school policies and initiatives.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school culture aligned with the school’s values.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in English teaching at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Ability to teach up to GCSE level; experience teaching A Level is an advantage.
  • Strong classroom management and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to student welfare and pastoral care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership role, such as Head of Year or Deputy Head of Year.
  • Experience with curriculum development and innovation in English teaching.
  • Familiarity with the Ofsted inspection process and standards.
  • Experience in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
