The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and inspiring English Teacher - Head of Year to join a dynamic and growing school. This role offers the opportunity to lead a year group, shape student development, and contribute to a forward-thinking department. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality education and supporting student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a year group, ensuring effective pastoral care and academic progress.
- Deliver high-quality English teaching across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, including GCSE and A Level.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the academy trust to share best practices and improve teaching and learning.
- Support the development of students’ personal, social, and emotional skills.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of the school’s curriculum and extracurricular activities.
- Work closely with senior leadership to implement school policies and initiatives.
- Promote a positive and inclusive school culture aligned with the school’s values.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in English teaching at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Ability to teach up to GCSE level; experience teaching A Level is an advantage.
- Strong classroom management and leadership skills.
- Commitment to student welfare and pastoral care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
Preferred
- Experience in a leadership role, such as Head of Year or Deputy Head of Year.
- Experience with curriculum development and innovation in English teaching.
- Familiarity with the Ofsted inspection process and standards.
- Experience in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
