The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the National Curriculum of England.
  • Foster a stimulating and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
  • Support students in preparing for GCSE and A level examinations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching practices and contribute to school improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to support learning outcomes.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of extracurricular activities that enrich the student experience.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
  • Engage with parents and the wider school community to support student success.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • An internationally recognised Bachelor’s Degree in Y7 to 13 English Education with English Literature or English Language specialism and QTS or equivalent.
  • Or an internationally recognised Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature or English Language or a closely related subject, and an internationally recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE or PGDE in English Literature or English Language with QTS or equivalent.
  • Or an internationally recognised Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with an internationally recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE or PGDE in English Literature or English Language with QTS or equivalent, and one year of experience teaching English Literature or English Language.
  • Valid police clearance certificate (ACRO or DBS) no more than 3 months old.
  • Two supporting references, including the most recent employer.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching at GCSE and A level.
  • Leadership experience in English as an Additional Language.
  • Experience with international curricula such as iGCSE, iAS, and iA Levels.
  • Familiarity with GL CAT4 and GL Progress tests.
