The Opportunity:

As an English Teacher, you will play a vital role in inspiring students at KS3 and KS4 through engaging lessons and a passion for the subject. This is an opportunity to contribute to a school that values excellence, innovation, and the well-being of all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons at both Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Promote the appreciation and understanding of English through creative and stimulating teaching.
  • Monitor and support student progress, providing constructive feedback to help them reach their full potential.
  • Create and maintain a disciplined, positive learning environment that encourages student motivation and achievement.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental schemes of work, assessments, and resources.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, parent evenings, and whole-school initiatives.
  • Support students through pastoral roles, including form tutoring and other duties.
  • Ensure compliance with external examination requirements and Teachers’ Standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A sound and developed knowledge of English and its examination specifications.
  • Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4.
  • Ability to create and maintain a stimulating and disciplined classroom environment.
  • Commitment to student progress and achievement.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to contribute to departmental policies and developments.

Preferred

  • Experience with developing and delivering innovative teaching resources.
  • Experience in contributing to the production of examination papers and marking.
  • Experience in leading or supporting whole-school improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with pastoral care and form tutoring.
