Pastoral Assistant required to support student wellbeing and development in a 3-16 inclusive academy.

The Opportunity:
As a Pastoral Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing and academic progress of students aged 11–16. Working closely with the Head of Year, you will provide consistent pastoral care and build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of Year in managing the pastoral needs of a year group.
- Provide consistent and effective support to students, ensuring their wellbeing and academic progress.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to maintain a positive and supportive environment.
- Assist in addressing individual student needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Build strong, professional relationships with students and colleagues to foster a positive school culture.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of pastoral strategies and initiatives.
- Promote a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
- Support the delivery of lunchtime activities and other pastoral duties as required.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with children aged 11–16 in an educational setting.
- Understanding of special educational needs, including autistic spectrum, learning difficulties, behavioural and emotional difficulties.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build rapport and professional relationships with students and colleagues.
- Commitment to student wellbeing and academic progress.
- Demonstrated resilience and ability to work flexibly.
Preferred
- Previous experience in a pastoral or student support role.
- Experience with pastoral care strategies and student welfare initiatives.
- Knowledge of inclusive education practices.
- Experience with leadership development or mentoring programs.
