The Opportunity:
As a Child Protection Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students. You will support vulnerable children and families, coordinate safeguarding responses, and work closely with the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead. This is an impactful role for someone passionate about child protection and committed to making a difference.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns and coordinate appropriate responses.
- Support vulnerable children and families by accessing necessary services and resources.
- Manage a case load of children and monitor the impact of support provided.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records and reports.
- Build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and partner agencies.
- Identify and assess safeguarding risks, responding appropriately to concerns.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and manage a varied workload effectively.
- Demonstrate resilience and professionalism in handling sensitive and complex situations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Experience working with children, young people, and families in a safeguarding or child protection environment.
- Sound understanding of child protection legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to identify, assess, and respond to safeguarding concerns and risks.
- Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
- Capability to manage a varied workload and work under pressure.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting.
- Knowledge of safeguarding frameworks and best practices.
- Proactive approach to professional development and up-to-date safeguarding knowledge.
- Experience in supporting vulnerable children and families.
