Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons across a range of ages and abilities.
  • Foster a love of reading, writing, speaking, and listening through creative and varied teaching methods.
  • Support students in achieving outstanding progress through targeted intervention and revision.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in planning and delivering the curriculum.
  • Encourage participation in extracurricular activities such as BBC School Report, poetry competitions, and theatre trips.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that reflects the school's values.
  • Contribute to wider school responsibilities and initiatives.
  • Ensure all teaching and learning practices meet the highest standards and support student achievement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Experience teaching English in a secondary school (ages 11–16 essential, ages 11–18 desirable).
  • Excellent curriculum knowledge and the ability to sequence skills and knowledge effectively.
  • A proven record of delivering outstanding teaching and securing high levels of student progress.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to wider school responsibilities and community engagement.

Preferred

  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to departmental initiatives.
  • A track record of professional development and continuous improvement.
