Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons across a range of ages and abilities.
- Foster a love of reading, writing, speaking, and listening through creative and varied teaching methods.
- Support students in achieving outstanding progress through targeted intervention and revision.
- Collaborate with colleagues in planning and delivering the curriculum.
- Encourage participation in extracurricular activities such as BBC School Report, poetry competitions, and theatre trips.
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that reflects the school's values.
- Contribute to wider school responsibilities and initiatives.
- Ensure all teaching and learning practices meet the highest standards and support student achievement.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Experience teaching English in a secondary school (ages 11–16 essential, ages 11–18 desirable).
- Excellent curriculum knowledge and the ability to sequence skills and knowledge effectively.
- A proven record of delivering outstanding teaching and securing high levels of student progress.
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Commitment to wider school responsibilities and community engagement.
Preferred
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
- Experience in leading or contributing to departmental initiatives.
- A track record of professional development and continuous improvement.
