Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality English lessons that are engaging, challenging, and tailored to student needs.
- Develop and implement a curriculum that aligns with national standards and promotes student achievement.
- Monitor and support student progress through regular assessments and formative feedback.
- Act as a form tutor, providing pastoral support and fostering positive relationships with students and parents.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to departmental planning and development.
- Maintain accurate records and track student progress through effective data management.
- Engage in professional development and contribute to the ongoing improvement of teaching and learning.
- Communicate regularly with parents, carers, and external agencies to support student well-being and academic success.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent and a relevant undergraduate degree.
- Proven experience in teaching English at the secondary level, ideally in a multi-ethnic urban school setting.
- Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Ability to plan and deliver effective lessons and assess student work accurately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong ICT skills, including the use of interactive teaching technologies.
- Commitment to high expectations, equality of access, and student welfare.
Preferred
- Experience working in an 11-18 school setting.
- Experience in leading or contributing to departmental initiatives and curriculum development.
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or similar qualifications.
- Leadership experience or a track record of supporting student achievement and aspiration.
