The Opportunity:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join a dynamic and collaborative faculty. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on student learning and development. The position is initially for one year as maternity cover, with potential for permanent employment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality English lessons that inspire and engage students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Develop and implement a curriculum that promotes reading, writing, and oracy skills in line with the AQA specification.
• Support students in achieving their full potential through effective assessment strategies, including No More Marking and comparative judgement.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency in teaching and learning across the faculty.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the English department through shared best practices and continuous professional development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Qualified teacher with experience in English education.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and improvement in teaching practice.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Experience in delivering GCSE English Language and Literature courses.

Preferred

• Experience with Talk for Writing or other oracy strategies.
• Familiarity with Century Software or Sparx Reader for homework and student support.
• Experience in leading or supporting departmental initiatives.
