Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality English lessons tailored to the needs of students with complex educational needs.
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans to support student progress.
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and engagement.
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on student performance and development.
- Support the wider school community through extracurricular activities and events.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Previous teaching experience, ideally within special education or with students with complex needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team and support the needs of students with diverse learning requirements
- Commitment to student well-being and personal development
Preferred
- Experience teaching English at secondary level
- Familiarity with teaching students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching strategies
- Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive learning tools
