Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons tailored to the needs of students with complex educational needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans to support student progress.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and engagement.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student performance and development.
  • Support the wider school community through extracurricular activities and events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Previous teaching experience, ideally within special education or with students with complex needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and support the needs of students with diverse learning requirements
  • Commitment to student well-being and personal development

Preferred

  • Experience teaching English at secondary level
  • Familiarity with teaching students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching strategies
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive learning tools
