Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 in English.
  • Support students in achieving excellent academic outcomes and fostering a love of learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective teaching strategies and resources.
  • Take on a leadership role as Second in Charge of English, contributing to departmental planning and staff development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support and feedback to help students reach their potential.
  • Maintain strong, positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Stay up to date with curriculum developments and incorporate innovative teaching methods into practice.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through extracurricular activities and pastoral care.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with QTS and relevant teaching experience.
  • Proven ability to teach English at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Experience in a leadership or middle management role within a school setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to high standards of behaviour and academic achievement.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding and pastoral care procedures.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
  • Passion for English literature and language.
