The Opportunity:
As a Curriculum Lead for English, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the English and literacy curriculum, ensuring it aligns with the school’s vision for high-quality teaching and learning. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement policies for English and literacy in line with the school’s commitment to high-quality teaching and learning
- Promote the subject and its value across the school, ensuring it contributes to pupils’ overall development
- Oversee curriculum planning to ensure clear sequencing and progression across all key stages
- Establish and maintain effective assessment systems to monitor pupil progress and achievement
- Support staff with teaching strategies, planning, and resource development to enhance delivery
- Lead and manage a team of English staff, providing professional development and coaching
- Liaise with feeder primary schools to support transition and curriculum progression
- Ensure the curriculum meets the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities
- Promote careers education through the English curriculum and support pupils’ personal development
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Degree and Qualified Teacher Status
- Evidence of experience in English and/or literacy leadership within a school setting
- Successful teaching experience with strong outcomes for students
- Expert knowledge of the National Curriculum, particularly in English
Preferred
- Experience working in the Special Education sector
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and equality policies
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language
- Experience with curriculum development and implementation in a special needs setting
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of £32,916 to £45,352, dependent on experience
- Additional TLR (Teaching and Learning Responsibility) allowance
