The Opportunity:

As an ESOL Lecturer, you will be instrumental in delivering engaging and effective teaching to students across a variety of full-time and part-time programmes. You will contribute to curriculum development and ensure learners develop essential skills in literacy, numeracy, and digital capability, while supporting their overall academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging teaching across full-time and part-time ESOL programmes.
  • Plan, prepare, and assess learning activities that promote literacy, numeracy, and digital skills.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and support the delivery of essential skills.
  • Maximise learner attendance, retention, and punctuality within assigned groups.
  • Ensure an outstanding learning experience for all students through innovative teaching methods.
  • Utilise IT tools effectively, including Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Support the use of virtual learning environments and e-learning platforms where applicable.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and improve teaching standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A recognised teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Comprehensive subject knowledge in ESOL and related areas.
  • Strong understanding of current educational initiatives and teaching methodologies.
  • Intermediate IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to plan, prepare, and assess learning activities effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience with learner management systems and student record systems.
  • Familiarity with virtual learning environments and e-learning platforms.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Background in teaching English as a second language.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
