The Opportunity:

As an ESOL Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering evening classes that help adult learners improve their English language skills. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective ESOL lessons to a diverse group of adult learners.
  • Support students in achieving their personal and academic goals through tailored instruction.
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and confidence.
  • Work collaboratively with other teaching staff and the Head of Department to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality education.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Stay up to date with developments in ESOL teaching and incorporate best practices into your lessons.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development of ESOL courses and programs, including those designed for refugee students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in ESOL or teaching English to speakers of other languages.
  • Proven ability to deliver engaging and effective lessons to adult learners.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners.
  • Willingness to work evenings, typically from 7pm to 9.15pm.

Preferred

  • Experience working with refugee or asylum seeker students.
  • Familiarity with teaching Entry Level to Level 2 ESOL courses.
  • Experience in a sixth form college or adult education sector.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student confidence and language proficiency.
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching practices and diversity and equality issues.
