The Opportunity:

As an English Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational journey of students aged 11 to 17. This is a unique opportunity to work in a school that prioritises the well-being of every child, offering a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons across Entry Level, Functional Skills, Key Stage 3, and GCSE.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students and support their academic and personal development.
  • Plan and implement engaging and creative curriculum content tailored to individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with therapists, parents, and other professionals to support student outcomes.
  • Manage and de-escalate complex and challenging behaviours with patience and care.
  • Contribute to the development of the school's academic and extra-curricular programmes.
  • Provide consistent, flexible, and non-judgemental support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Advocate for students and contribute to decision-making that shapes the school's direction.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Post Graduate Education Certificate (PGCE)
  • Proven record of good or outstanding teaching practice
  • Excellent communication and emotional intelligence
  • Ability to teach English to GCSE or equivalent vocational level
  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs and managing challenging behaviours
  • Experience in delivering a creative and academically engaging curriculum

Preferred

  • Experience in crisis management and working with disengaged families
  • Background in therapeutic or trauma-informed education
  • Experience in developing and implementing inclusive teaching strategies
